What is Clomid

One of the most widely used medications designed to treat infertility within women is Clomid. This medication stimulates the increase of special hormones responsible for both the release and growth of mature eggs, as well as the ovulation process. The active ingredient of Clomid is Clomiphene Citrate. The latter features an anti-estrogen action that has the power to solve problems with getting pregnant.

Being a non-steroidal medication, Clomid is definitely among the most famous infertility drugs. It has been in the medication market since the 1960s and has always been acquired as a highly efficient medication type. Clomid has improved the quality of thousands of women’s lives all around the world helping them to become mothers.

To get an effective result in treating infertility, Clomid is prescribed in cycles. Usually, they coincide with the menstrual cycle so that the natural egg production is stimulated. The course of treatment with Clomid is started just on the first several days of a menstrual cycle. The medication is to be taken once a day for five days.

The recommended starting dose of Clomid is a 50mg pill a day for five days. Yet, depending on the patient’s state (if they don’t start ovulating), the dosage can be increased. If the doctor has made it an aim to achieve a progestin-induced bleeding, the treatment is to be started on the fifth day of the patient’s cycle. Anyway, if the doctor does not get the anticipated result, he may increase the dosage up to one 100mg pill or two 50mg pills per day. The course of treatment remains constant.

Before a treatment with Clomid starts, the patient should inform her doctor about such health conditions she might have as are the followings: vaginal bleeding; liver diseases; ovarian cysts; enlarged ovaries; adrenal gland problems; pituitary tumor, etc. What concerns the drug interaction, only several medications are known to significantly reduce Clomid’s effectiveness and bring forward negative results. These are Bexarotene, Ospemifene, Osphera, and Gonadorelin. The primary side effect Clomid may cause is dizziness. This should be taken into great account if the patient is to perform responsible mental activities.

Other common side effects include bloating, stomach ulcers, hot flashes, breast tenderness, pelvic fullness, light headaches, etc. These were the most common and harmless side effects. Yet, there are some other which can be of great harm to the patient’s organism. They are extremely rare yet still possible. These are irregular vaginal bleeding, changes in mood and mental health, as well as vision problems (blurred vision, seeing dark spots, etc.). Usually the latter quickly pass as the patient’s organism gets used to the medication, yet once strong eye pain or vision problems occur a doctor must be seen immediately.

Excellent drug, I became pregnant almost immediately! But, remember that this drug cannot be used more than 5-6 times (stimulation cycles) in life otherwise there is an increased risk of problems with the ovaries, in case of over-stimulation, an early menopause is possible. In addition, it has an antiestrogenic effect, which affects the composition of the cervical mucus, which becomes difficult for spermatozoa. Therefore me for example drank a sage tea in the first phase of a cycle.

Girls, if you decide to stimulate one or two times – nothing terrible will happen! When I was having anovulatory menstruation at 25 I decided to take Clomid and I do not regret about it at all! Immediately became pregnant! And gave birth without a single problem) And now, three years later I became pregnant again without any drugs! So the main thing is to believe in what you are doing!

I find out I wasn’t ovulating at 24 years old,it was very hard for me and never thought at this young age I will have issues getting pregnant. I had an issue with my period too so my GYN prescribed clomid 50mg to take on day 4 of my period for 4 days. I looked up reviews on the medication and it was a success for others and not a success for some women. My period came on Thanksgiving November 24th I started taking the clomid on November 28th and did ovulation checking from day 12 day of my period. At day 28 nothing happened but my doctor encouraged me to keep tracking my ovulation and come see her at day 35 if I don’t get my period. Find out I am pregnant on December 27. Wo

The first med that worked for me and I’m still in shock. My gyn prescribed me 50 mg during days 5-9 of my cycle. I bought a light blue ovulation kit and started tracking when I ovulated. The digital test is the BEST. She told me my most fertile day (day 16) and my husband and I were in it like rabbits. Around the 29th of my clycle I started having periods as symptoms and I thought my period was about to begin. A few days later, when I had not started bleeding, I thought it would be better to take a pregnancy test. 7 positive pregnancy test later, and I guess you can say I’m pregnant.

I am having PCO problem for 2 years, but when I started taking this medication my periods were normal and conceived within 4 months. The best medicine for women with OCP problems. I am pregnant after the first cycle. Happy, but scared to death at the same time!

I have a blocked fallopian tube. I had to use the estrogen medicine too because my uterine lining was too thin. I caught Clomid for the first time. My husband and I tried it for a year. I took the HCG shot over 2 weeks ago. I noticed some strange symptoms a few days ago and just took multiple pregnancy tests. And I’m pregnant! So Clomid worked very well for me so far.

The first round worked for me and I’m still in shock. My doc prescribed me 50 mg during days 5-9 of my cycle. Around the 30th of my cycle I started having periods as symptoms and I thought my period was about to begin. A few days later, when I had not started bleeding, I thought it would be better to take a pregnancy test. 7 positive pregnancy test later, and I guess you can say I’m pregnant.

I took Clomid in the early 1980s coz of PCO. Gave birth to a beautiful girl. Three years later (without clomid) a boy. To this day, I am still very grateful for the drug. Do not give up, your wonderful life is waiting to happen!
